LCF is pleased to welcome Grace Ferland as our spring 2023 intern. This new addition brings great experience to LCF’s animal husbandry program.
Our thanks to Grace for following our continuing COVID-19 protocols, which have included a ‘mini quarantine’ period that prevented her from shadowing husbandry staff for one weeks after their arrival at the reserve. Additionally, with their adherence to LCF PPE requirements, we provided her with presentations and activities that did not directly involve lemurs during the transition.
Presentations included a general orientation, animal welfare, and enrichment, while projects included making enrichment for the lemurs, tidying up our browse/vegetable garden, and planting new vegetable seeds.
Get to know Grace and why she was attracted to LCF’s internship opportunities.
Grace Ferland
Grace comes to us from Sterling Heights, MI. She majored Biology with an emphasis on ecology and evolution from Grand Valley State University. In the past, she also completed an internship at Binder Park Zoo where she became interested in lemurs. She looks forward to learning more about prosimians and learning about the conservation efforts to save their many species.
