We’ve got an update for you about red ruffed lemurs Ranomamy and Zazabe since our blog post in December, Welcome our new red ruffed lemur. It was an exciting time when Ranomamy arrived and was introduced to Zazabe, and now we’ve introduced him to our forest habitat. Partnered with free ranging pro Zazabe, he has quickly adapted to the forest.
During his first week out, Rano, as he’s been nicknamed, spent most of his time within running distance of the overhead tunnel that connects to their indoor shelter, retreating to this space when he was startled or uncomfortable. Within the past two weeks, however, the pair suddenly began venturing farther afield, sometimes even travelling to areas unused by the other lemur species also sharing the forest habitat. The staff are excited to see how the pair continue to develop together.
