
Harisaina ‘Arnaud’ Joël

Arnaud is originally from Antalaha, in northeastern Madagascar. Majoring in English Language, he completed his Bachelor’s Degree in 2017 at the University of the SAVA Region at Antalaha (USAVA). He taught English at local schools and to guide associations and has assisted the U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers. In 2017, he worked for Duke Lemur Center SAVA Conservation as a translator and as a research assistant for several PhD students from the University of Goettingen studying vanilla.
In August 2024, Arnaud was selected to participate in a prestigious leadership training program for young African leaders, Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Regional Leadership Center Southern Africa program, under Civic Leadership track at the University of South Africa School of Business Leadership (UNISA SBL). He is also one of the current lifelong members of My Mentor program led by Dr. Sylvia Atsalis, an international mentoring network which is dedicated to empowering emerging conservation leaders globally. Since the start of 2018, he has been working for the Lemur Conservation Foundation to expand the family planning program.
