Farewell Bimbini

March 3, 2022 by Lemur Conservation Foundation

Farewell Bimbini! We recently said goodbye to mongoose lemur Bimbini as he traveled the short distance to Naples Zoo in Naples, FL. Recommended by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) Mongosoe Lemur Species Survival Plan (SSP), Bimbini’s transfer went off without a hitch and he is now settling into his new home with his new partner Victoria- a white fronted brown lemur.

Bimbini arrived at LCF in 2007 and was paired with female Emilia in 2010. Together, the pair raised six offspring together before Emilia’s passing in 2020. Following Emilia’s passing, Bimbini continued living with their youngest son Felipe.

At almost 19 years old, Bimbini was ready to settle down with someone a little less boisterous than his 2 year old son. So when the SSP reached out to LCF searching for a partner for 21 year old Victoria, we knew Bimbini was the perfect choice. The LCF team was sad to see him go, but we are all very excited for the companionship he and Victoria will provide each other in their golden years.

If you are interested in seeing Bimbini and Victoria, the Naples Zoo is open daily from 9AM to 4:30PM.
