Katharine McKenna

Artist Bio:
Through organic and unique usage of color, light and shape, K.L. McKenna's style captures radical new perspectives on the traditional subject. Her paintings are not just paintings of landscapes or figures but rather color harmonies of a very high and unusual order. She is often recognized as one of the most exciting contemporary artists painting today. K.L. McKenna's scenes of Colorado, Arizona, Wyoming and Montana reflect her enthusiasm and spiritual connection to the geology of the west, where she paints on site. Her figure studies, which she prefers to call "figure landscapes", are created in her Kingston, NY studio throughout the year.

K.L. McKenna, a resident of Woodstock, NY and Ward, CO, has a B.A. from Wesleyan University, CT and a Masters degree in Industrial Design from Pratt INstitute, Brooklyn, NY. She has had extensive experience working for museums and top exhibition design firms in New York, such as Ralph Appelbaum Assoc. and Albert Woods Design.

K.L. McKenna participated in "Expanded Horizons, " the annual auction at the Yellowstone Art Museum, Billings, MT, and the Annual Buffalo Bill Coday Show and Sale, Cody, WY. She is represented by Granger Fine Art, Cody, WY, NextMonet.com and is listed on AskArt.com, the blue book on American Artists. She has exhibited in a variety of galleries across the United States and her work is included in many corporate and private collections. She recently exhibited work in Cologne, Germany, for the Rhine-Hudson German Exchange.

She is a Board Member of Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, the Woodstock Guild, Woodstock, NY and the Arts Society of Kingston, NY, which she co-founded. She is a member of the Woodstock Artists Association.
