The Anne & Walter Bladstrom Library located in the
Mianatra Center for Lemur Studies opened in 2007 and serves
as an on-site research facility for those visiting the
Reserve and also as an online virtual library and electronic
information resource for anyone interested in lemur studies.
The Center and the Library support LCF staff, scientists,
researchers, students and visitors in their efforts to better
understand the nature, ecology and conservation of the
primates of Madagascar.
The Library has a spacious reading/conference room
equipped with the latest audio-visual and computer
technology, and the lemur library made up of virtual, digital
and physical collections about "all things lemur." Its goal
is to be a one-stop globally accessible information resource
about lemurs and to serve as a model for otherspecies
specific resources worldwide.
In addition to researchers and professors, the Center will
host select groups of students and adult visitors on an
appointment-only basis who wish to learn more about lemurs
and their place in the web of biological diversity.
The Mianatra Center for Lemur Studies was designed pro
bono by architect Gregory Clement, a partner in Kohn Pedersen
Fox (KPF,) an internationally renowned architecture firm
based in New York and London. We gratefully acknowledge the
generosity of KPF for the beautiful design and further
acknowledge LCF Director Michael T. Martin for underwriting
the technical development plan for the library.
