"Ny Aiay Ako" (Ako the Aye-Aye)
|

Description:
This soft-cover children’s book features a story about a
juvenile Aye-aye (a species of lemur) named Ako living in the
forest of Madagascar. The enchanting text, in both English and
Malagasy, is written by Alison Jolly. The beautiful watercolor
illustrations throughout are by Deborah Ross.
The publication of Ako the Aye-Aye was made possible by a grant
from SAPPI. 4,000 copies are in the process of being donated to
schoolchildren all over Madagascar. A representative of the
Lemur Conservation Foundation brought the first set of books to
Madagascar in July of 2005. A limited number of these delightful
little books are on sale, available only through the Lemur
Conservation Foundation.

This is a beautifully produced, charmingly written and magically
illustrated book, which will help inspire the conservations of
the future! Below, see what readers had to say about Ny Aiay
Ako!
“This enchanting and ravishingly illustrated little book about
some of the world’s most beautiful and endangered creatures
cannot fail to captivate its readers, young or old.”
Dr. Ian Tattersall, Curator Division of
Anthropology American Museum of Natural History.
“Ako the Aye-Aye” is a delightful visual feast and scientific
confection about a rare forest and its even rarer inhabitants in
Madagascar. Lucky children to have science and conservation
delivered in such an appealing way, and the adults will love it
too!”
Dr. George Amato Director, Genetics
Research and Senior Conservation Biologist Wildlife Conservation
Society
Cost: $12.00
Special Note: For every copy purchased, one is donated to the
children of Madagascar.
